Marshville’s location is conveniently located near many top attractions. A three hour drive to the west and you will find yourself in Asheville, NC and the Great Smokey Mountains. Marshville's country charm helped attract Director Steven Spielberg to film some of the 1985 movie "The Color Purple" in downtown Marshville.  Movie memorabilia from this classic, that was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, can still be found in downtown. The Marshville Museum and Cultural Center  is located in the old Town Hall building at 201 N. Elm Street in downtown Marshville and features exhibits on the history of Marshville, the surrounding area, and its residents.

Monroe, NC, only about a 15 minute drive to the west, offers a variety of dining and lodging options for all budget ranges. Visit Monroe provides further details.

Charlotte is only a 35 mile drive from Marshville and offers world class entertainment and leisure activities.
